Summer Art Camps 2008
Our
summer camps offer a variety of individual and group experiences in drawing,
painting, clay, printmaking, collage, costumes, cartooning and sculpture.
Camps are taught by professional artists/art teachers in a cool indoor studio
with a
lawn area for outdoor activities. Each camp has its own theme and offers a
unique experience.
Morning 2-hour camps for ages 5 and 6 meet 9 to11 am.
Fee is $70.
Afternoon
camps for ages 7 to 12 meet from 12:30 to 4 pm.
Fee is $130.
Fees include materials and snacks. A free t-shirt is provided to each enrollee.
Enrollment in each camp is limited to 12 students, so early registration is
recommended.

camp scholarship program.
Camps meet in the Open Studio behind the Gallery Shop at 824 Pike Street
in Lemont.

2 Hour Morning Sessions 9 to 11 am,
ages 5 and 6, $ 70 per week
1A Backyard Art June 16-20
CANCELLED -- SCHOOL STILL IN SESSION!
In our backyard, explore small eco-systems of bugs, leaves and flowers.
Paint, plant flowers, draw and use collage. Annie.
2A Fields of Color June 23-27
Rainbows, crayons, blue skies, green grass, ballerina pink. Make art with
your favorite colors. Annie.
3A Dabblers in Paint and Clay
July 14-18 FULL!
Your chance to dabble in all the art forms - draw, paint, sculpt with
clay, try a pottery
wheel. Kara.
4A Eric Carle Fun July 21-25
CANCELLED
Each day we’ll read an Eric Carle story book. Using drawing, color, paint
and collage
you’ll interpret the story and animals in your own way. Kara.
5A Summertime July 28- August
1
Paint the sun, make flowers, glue and paste seashell shapes, and use color
and collage
to picture summer fun. Annie.
6A Art Around the Globe
August 11-15 PLEASE NOTE:
Now a 3-hour
camp 9 am - noon Ages 5-12 $110
Using simple techniques from other countries, youngsters create their own
folk art.

7A Wild About Bugs August
18-22
Use paint, tissue paper, pipe cleaners, cardboard and potato prints to
create your
favorite butterflies, ladybugs, bees and insects. Annie.

Explore the beauty of nature through pattern, color and shapes. Paint at
easels, design
and plant a garden, make flags and a fort. Annie.
2B
SUN-sational Mixed Media
June 23-27 CANCELLED
Explore design,
light and composition with sun prints, photograms, outdoor
sketching and painting with experienced photography artist. Try
papermaking using our
pulp & press. Annie-hannah.
3B Fun with Clay July 14-18
Shape bowls, sculptures and tiles using clay coils, slabs, molds and pinch
pots. Learn to
use glazes and understand how clay is fired. Kara.
4B Fun with Clay July 21-25

pots. Learn to

5B Summer Watercolors July
28- August 1
Use your memory of summer fun and your observation of nature. Sketch
outdoors, use
watercolors, cut and glue collage creations. Annie.
6B Cartoons and Comics August
4-8
Learn how to create cartoon characters of your own and make your own comic
book.

Explore Japanese fish printing, Australian dot art, Byzantine mosaics and
Mexican
motifs. Annie.
8B Animal Adventures August
18- 22
Cats and dogs, birds, lions, dinosaurs, -- animals of all kinds inspire
art projects with a
variety of art materials, paints and print techniques. Annie.

Instructors
Kara Michael has a BFA in Ceramics from Penn State. She specialized
in early
childhood development and intervention at Easter Seals Child Development
Center.
She has taught ceramics at summer camps and has spent semesters abroad
studying
art in both Italy and Ireland. Kara’s own work includes biomorphic
hand-built ceramics,
teapots, vases, and unusual containers. Kara’s work has been in the Art
Alliance Juried
Shows in 2007 and 2008.
Annie Swincinski has a BFA in Graphic Design from Savannah College
of Art. At the
Alternative Community Recourse Program in Johnstown, PA, she designed the
curriculum and was the art teacher for this program for at-risk youth. She
has taught
Adult classes in watercolor, and printmaking at the Art Alliance and PSU
Arts and Crafts
Center.Annie is a practicing artist who exhibits locally and in New York.
Adam Swartz has a BA in Integrative Arts from Penn State. He has
taught acting and
visual arts for Centre Learning Community Charter School. Adam has
traveled the
country with the Itinerant Theatre Company and Middle Earth Studios. He
builds puppets
and performs original and commissioned projects. He is an accomplished
whistler.
Annie-hannah Mancini has a degree from Univ. of Mass. at Amherst
with a MFA in
Printmaking/Photography. She also has had advanced grad studies in
education from
PSU with a BFA in Drawing and Painting. Annie-hannah is the owner of
Lumina
Photograpy and BVA Gallery in Boalsburg, PA. She has taught Photography
and
Printing with the Galaxy Program. She has lectured at PSU/Altoona in
Drawing,
Printmaking, Design, at the Summer Children’s Program (“Kidzdraw”), and at
Phillips
Andover Academy Summer Arts Program in Design, Printmaking and
Photography.
